CARBONDALE – Two people have been arrested in connection with a recent incident that took place in the 600 block of West Mill Street in Carbondale.
According to Carbondale Police, around 7:10 a.m. on Jan. 2, officers went to the 600 block of West Mill Street regarding a kidnapping. Officers arrived at the home and found evidence of a disturbance.
During the course of the investigation, officers located the victim safe in Murphysboro and in need of serious medical treatment. The victim was taken to the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for treatment.
The investigation revealed that 39-year-old Justin D. Carr of Carbondale, and another suspect, later identified as 22-year-old Jalyn A. Rush of Lexington, IL, forced their way into the home and battered the victim, They then took the victim, who was an acquaintance, by force to another location where the victim was battered. The victim was eventually able to escape the suspects and flee to safety.
On Wednesday, officers located and arrested Carr and the Rush without incident. Officers charged Carr and Rush with Home Invasion, Aggravated Kidnapping and Aggravated Battery. Additional charges against Carr and Rush may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.
Carr and Rush were lodged in the Jackson County Jail.
The Murphysboro Police Department, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office assisted in the investigation.
