According to the Mt. Vernon Police Department, just before 3 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to the Walgreens Distribution Center for a report of two vehicles being broken into and two more vehicles that had been stolen.
An officer on scene saw one of the stolen vehicles being driven in Mt. Vernon earlier in the shift but it had not been reported as stolen at that time.
Officers began checking for the stolen vehicle(s) and the officer again located the stolen truck at the Huck’s Convenience Store on Broadway. Additional officers arrived on scene resulting in two people being taken into custody.
During the course of the investigation officers were able to locate and recover the second stolen vehicle as well as property stolen during the burglary of vehicles including one previously reported at a location on Richview Road.
As a result of this investigation, Kendra Vansyoc was taken into custody and transported to the Jefferson County Jail.
Vansyoc was formally charged Monday in Jefferson County Court with two Class 2 felonies for possessing a stolen vehicle, and three Class 3 counts of felony burglary.
Bail was set in her case at $50,000 and she’s next scheduled to appear in court September 14 for a preliminary hearing and first appearance with a court appointed attorney.
The second person, a 17-year-old juvenile, was transported to the Franklin County Juvenile Justice Center on two counts of felony criminal damage to property, credit card fraud, three counts of burglary to motor vehicle and two counts of felony theft. The juvenile will be held pending a court appearance in Jefferson County.
