The Fowler Bonan Foundation, Sen. Carroll Partner Together for Toy Giveaway, Seek to Help Families Impacted by Recent Tornadoes

HARRISBURG – Following aftermath of the devastating tornadoes that tore through parts of Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee, the Fowler Bonan Foundation and Kentucky State Senator Danny Carroll are partnering together in an effort to assist with ongoing relief efforts following the natural disaster.

“Many lives have been lost and communities across the Midwest have been devastated. The destruction has been felt throughout the region, with Kentucky being one of the areas hardest hit by the disaster,” said Dale Fowler, the Chairman of the Fowler Bonan Foundation. “Our Foundation’s mission has always been to help those in need and when something like this happens, state borders don’t matter. What matters is showing compassion and support to our neighbors.”

“Communities in Western Kentucky have been left in shambles,” Sen. Danny Carroll said. “As the dust begins to settle, I want to thank my friend, Senator Fowler, for reaching across state lines to help our residents.”

Together, Senator Carroll and the Fowler Bonan Foundation are partnering together to host a toy giveaway, providing toys to children who have lost their homes in the Marshall County area and surrounding region. The toy drive is in collaboration with the Abundant Life Worship Center in Calvert City, KY.

The Fowler Bonan Foundation had been collecting gifts to give away at a local downtown holiday festival in Eldorado, partnering with the Galatia Dollar General. Shortly after the tornadoes struck the region, Kentucky First Lady Britainy Beshear made a public call for holiday toys and donations for area children impacted by the crisis.

“When this tragedy struck, we knew there were boys and girls, especially in Kentucky, who weren’t going to have much to look forward to this holiday season,” said Fowler. “The least we can do is try to ensure these families that have lost so much have a little holiday cheer.”

“There are so many out there that are just down on their luck and struggling this year. We want to make sure every child has a joyful Christmas with their parents and loved ones,” said Tonyi Patton, Galatia Dollar General Assistant Manager. “We wish the best to these families in their time of need.”

“One of the most painful aspects of this catastrophe has been seeing how our children have been affected,” Carroll said. “They are confused, scared, and uncertain about what the future holds for them. At a time of year when families are usually gathering with their loved ones to celebrate the holidays, many families are trying to pick up the pieces left behind from this tragic event. The Foundation’s efforts will help bring some much needed normalcy to the lives of children who need that desperately right now.”

The Fowler Bonan Foundation delivered their contributions to Senator Carroll’s office earlier this week.

The Fowler Bonan Foundation is a Southern Illinois-based charity that seeks to provide clothing and meals to children and families in need throughout Southern Illinois. More information on the Foundation can be found at
