Suspect Sought in Tuesday Night Armed Robbery at Mt. Vernon Convenience Store

MT. VERNON – Mt. Vernon Police are investigating a Tuesday night armed robbery on the city’s northeast side.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the Casey’s General Store at 1400 Salem Road for a report of an armed robbery shortly after 8 p.m.

The ensuing investigation determined the offender was a heavy-set black male wearing grey sweatpants, a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and a gator-type face mask.

The offender displayed a handgun and left with an undetermined amount of cash. The offender left eastbound from the business on a bicycle.

Citizens in this area are encouraged to check their security systems and advise local authorities if they may have captured images of a person meeting the description of the offender. The offender in this case is considered armed and dangerous.
