Search of Woodlawn Home Leads to Man’s Arrest on Meth-related Charges

MT. VERNON – A 54-year-old Mt. Vernon man was arrested Wednesday on meth-related charges after the Mt. Vernon Police Department/Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office High Risk Team executed a search warrant at 210 North Main Street in Woodlawn.

According to the sheriff’s office, the warrant was a result of an ongoing investigation by the MVPD/JCSO Joint Narcotics Unit.

The home was secured, evidence was recovered, and the primary resident, 54-year-old David W. Lamar, was arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Jail.

Lamar was taken to the Jefferson County Jail and appeared in Jefferson County Court Thursday. He was formally charged at that time with Class 2 felony delivery of 5 grams or less of methamphetamine, Class 3 felony possession of less than 5 grams of meth and being a felon in possession of a firearm, as well as Class 4 felony obstruction of justice/destruction of evidence.

Bond in the case was set at $100,000 and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for May 24 along with a first appearance with his court appointed attorney.
