Saturday Night Disturbance in Carbondale Leads to Two Arrests

CARBONDALE – Two people have been charged in connection with a disturbance that happened in the 1100 block of East Walnut Street in Carbondale Saturday night.

According to Carbondale Police, during the course of the investigation, officers arrested 32-year-old Tamira Smart of Milwaukee, WI, for Battery and 48-year-old Quincy Brown of Cairo for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm with no valid FOID. Brown was treated for a minor injury sustained during the battery incident with Smart.

After consulting the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office, Smart was released pending a court appearance while Brown was lodged in the Jackson County Jail.
