Report of Shots Fired in Marion Tuesday Leads to Man’s Arrest on Gun Charges

MARION – A Marion man was arrested on gun charges following a report of shots fired into a home in the 1200 block of Lincoln Drive in Marion Tuesday.

According to Marion Police, when officers arrived they were able to gather evidence and provide descriptions of the suspect vehicle. Officers were able to locate a vehicle matching the provided description and conduct a traffic stop. At this time the suspect had already left the involved vehicle and fled to a nearby home in the 1400 block of North Market Street.

Officers responded to that area and were able to take the suspect, identified as 18-year-old Xander C. Thorne of Marion, into custody without incident. A search of the home was conducted, and a semi-automatic firearm was recovered.

Thorne was issued citations for Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Unlawful Use of a Weapon without a FOID. Thorne was taken to the Williamson County Jail awaiting his first appearance in court.

Marion Police continue to investigate the shooting.
