BENTON – The Rend Lake Water Festival in Benton will not happen this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the Benton/West City Chamber of Commerce, planning an event like this requires state licensure for a carnival operator and state approval for a road closure. Without the state’s permission, the Chamber cannot proceed with events that require such licensure.
The Chamber understands that this is an annual community event, and as an organization, are saddened by the postponement of the Rend Lake Water Festival. The Chamber explored every alternative before making this very difficult decision.
Despite the postponement of the Rend Lake Water Festival, the Chamber intends to hold its annual Car Show scheduled for Sept. 11 and the annual Golf Scramble scheduled for Oct. 1.
Residents can find up-to-date information on the Chamber’s website or on Facebook at Benton West City Area Chamber of Commerce.
