SPRINGFIELD – State health officials Sunday reported 4,469 new COVID-19 cases including 81 additional deaths with one being reported in Jefferson County. This brings the total number of cases to 979,821 including 16,755 deaths in Illinois.
The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from Dec. 27–Jan. 2 is 8.3 percent. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from Dec. 27–Jan. 2 is 9.6 percent.
Eighty new cases were reported by the Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department Sunday. Forty-three were in Williamson County and 37 were in Franklin County.
The Egyptian Health Department reported 52 new COVID-19 cases Sunday. 27 were reported in Saline County. Nine were reported in Gallatin County. Sixteen were reported in White County.
The Perry County Health Department said on Facebook Sunday that since Thursday, 183 additional laboratory confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported including 97 cases located at a correctional facility in Perry County. The correctional facility is following IDPH guidelines and fully cooperating with the Perry County Health Department.
