SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Monday reported 2,312 new COVID-19 cases, including 16 additional deaths.
Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 1,128,613 cases, including 19,259 deaths, in Illinois.
The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from Jan. 25–31 is 3.9%. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from Jan. 25–31, 2021 is 4.9%.
273 new COVID-19 cases and three deaths were reported in southern Illinois Monday. That’s according to information we received and compiled from area health departments.
Officials said they expected COVID-19 vaccinations to top 1 million by the end of Monday, even as the state struggles to get more doses and fends off criticism it is moving too slowly. IDPH reported that it has received more than 1.8 million doses of the vaccine designed to prevent coronavirus illness. As of midday Monday, 996,410 people had received the first of two required shots.
