Possible Plea Agreement Coming for Man Charged in April Beating at Mt. Vernon Bar

MT. VERNON – A possible plea agreement is in the works for a 24-year-old Mt. Vernon man charged in Jefferson County Court with the severe beating of another man at a Mt. Vernon bar this spring.

Hunter Clover is charged with two Class 3 felonies for aggravated battery resulting in great bodily harm and aggravated battery in a public place, along with Class 4 felony reckless conduct resulting in great bodily harm.

According to Mt. Vernon Police Chief Trent Page, officers responded the evening of Saturday, April 3 to Dee Bee’s on South Ninth Street on a report of a belligerent subject the bar wanted removed.

Before officers arrived, however, they received a second call of a person needing medical attention.

A 40-year-old male involved in an alleged altercation with Clover was subsequently hospitalized in serious condition.

Clover has been free on bail since shortly after his April arrest.

During a court hearing Monday, the case against him was scheduled for a possible plea on November 15.

The case had previously been scheduled for an October jury trial.
