MT. VERNON – A 59-year-old woman was arrested Friday night in Mt. Vernon after she had allegedly taken a 9-year-old girl from her rural Fairfield home.
According to MVPD, around 11 p.m. Friday, they received a citizen’s report indicating a vehicle wanted in connection with an Amber Alert from Wayne County may be in the area of Potomac Boulevard in Mt. Vernon.
Officers responded to the area and began searching for the vehicle.
While doing so an officer located the suspect vehicle on the parking lot of the Hampton Inn. The officers made contact with Teresa A. Hill and the juvenile from the Amber Alert.
The juvenile was not harmed. Officers contacted the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office to confirm charges were pending against Hill in Wayne County.
The juvenile was transported to the Mt. Vernon Police Department and the Division of Children and Family Services was notified to assist with the placement of the juvenile.
Hill was released to authorities from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and transported back to Wayne County to face charges.
The vehicle was towed from the scene and secured pending release by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department.
