MCLEANSBORO – The Hamilton County Board is expected to accept the resignation of Board member Chad May at tonight’s meeting.
May was recently elected as Mayor of the City of McLeansboro in the Consolidated Election. May’s resignation will be effective May 8. He was just re-elected to the County Board last November.
With May’s resignation expected, Hamilton County Clerk Mary Anne Hopfinger says she will have to notify both the Democrat and Republican Party chairmen about the vacancy on the board. Then it will be up to the Republican Party chairman to recommend a replacement to fill the rest of May’s term which will expire in November of next year. Then the County Board will have to approve and appoint his replacement.
Tonight’s meeting starts at 6 p.m. at the courthouse in McLeansboro.
