CARBONDALE – Two Marion residents are facing gun-related charges after Carbondale Police conducted safety surveillance in the 100 block of North Washington Street due to a crowd of people congregating just after 2 Friday morning.
According to Carbondale Police, officers saw a person involved in a conflict armed with a handgun. The suspect left the area in a vehicle and responding officers immediately stopped the vehicle.
Officers arrested 32-year-old Chad D. Smith of Marion for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon by a Felon and Forgery after officers found counterfeit currency in his possession.
Officers also arrested 26-year-old Bryonne L. Williams of Marion for Unlawful Sale/Delivery of a Firearm to a Felon.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
Carbondale Police continue to investigate.
