MARION – The Marion City Council discussed and approved increasing the budget for renovations to Tower Square from $1.25 million approved on May 24 to $1.5 million at Monday night’s meeting.

According to City Spokesperson Cody Moake, the city approved the increase in the general contractor bid by Samron because the bid came in above budget.

The general scope of Samron’s work, according to Moake, will be to remove the concrete structures that are present, build the basins for the fountains, and build a pump house for the fountain’s mechanical controls.
