MARION – The Marion City Council Monday night approved the budget for improvements to Tower Square Plaza.

The budget is set to not exceed $1.25 million according to City Spokesperson Cody Moake.

Moake says more information about the improvements will be discussed during the State of the City Meeting June 14 at the Marion Cultural and Civic Center.

In a story we ran about the proposed improvements last summer, the city would like to make the roundabout more of a traditional roundabout on the Square to slow down traffic, improve parking downtown and possibly install a multi-purpose pad that can be used as a splash pad for kids in the summer and an ice rink in the winter.
