HARRISBURG – One man was killed and another airlifted from the scene of a four-vehicle crash Thursday in Saline County.
According to Illinois State Police, around 4:45 p.m. Thursday, 50-year-old Michael J. Woolley of Texas was traveling southbound on US Rt. 45 near Feazel Road when for an unknown reason he swerved into the northbound lane and sideswiped a semi and a four-door sedan before striking another semi truck head-on.
Occupants of the vehicles that were sideswiped were not hurt.
However, Woolley was pronounced dead at a local hospital and the driver of the semi struck head-on – 35-year-old Tony W. King, of Indiana – was airlifted with life-threatening injuries to a regional hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
