CARBONDALE – A Carbondale man is facing gun charges after Carbondale Police responded to the 500 block of West College Street regarding a report of shots fired around 10:45 Wednesday morning.
According to a police report, officers in the area saw two black male suspects flee the scene. Officers located both of the suspects who ran and detained them.
The investigation revealed one of the suspects was involved in the shooting. Officers learned 22-year-old Julius C. Kitt of Carbondale fired a gun at another male acquaintance in the 500 block of West College Street. There were no injuries reported, however, there was damage to a nearby occupied building.
Officers located the firearm Kitt used in this incident. The firearm was reported stolen.
Officers charged Kitt with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon, Aggravated Discharge of a Weapon, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Resisting a Peace Officer and No FOID. Kitt was lodged in the Jackson County Jail.
