CARMI – A Carmi man is facing charges after Carmi Police and the White County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglary in progress in the 600 block of Sycamore Street Monday.
According to a Carmi Police report, a witness said the suspect – identified as 24-year-old Michial L. Thomas – broke a window to gain entry and broke out another window to exit and flee on foot.
Officers set up a perimeter and located Thomas on Shipley Street.
Thomas was charged with burglary and criminal damage to property. He was also arrested on a warrant for failure to register as a sex offender. Thomas was taken to the White County Jail.
Bond was set at $7,500 cash on the warrant. The bond is pending on the burglary and criminal damage charges.
