The Jackson County Health Department is administering vaccine at the mass vaccination site located in the west lobby of SIU’s Banterra Center. The clinic at that location is open 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.
Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome. Appointments can be made through the JCHD website at jchdonline.org. Anyone under the age of 18 seeking vaccination must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to provide consent. The mass vaccination site is open to all Illinois residents age 12 and up. Vaccinations are free and no insurance information is collected.
Health questions related to children being vaccinated against COVID-19 should be directed to their pediatrician.
Jackson County Health Department is also working with school superintendents to plan vaccination clinics at schools around the county. These events will likely occur in June. Details on these clinics will be released as plans develop.
