CARMI – Illinois State Police in Carmi have released results from its Roadside Safety Check held in White County during March. It happened at the intersection of Illinois Route 1 and Epworth Road in Carmi.
ISP issued two DUI citations and two other alcohol/drug citations. There were four citations for occupant restraint offenses, driver’s license offenses and insurance violations. There were 11 registration offenses, 15 total citations/arrests and 19 total written warnings.
Alcohol and drug impairment is a factor in more than 30 percent of all fatal motor vehicle crashes in Illinois, and throughout the U.S., nearly 10,000 people die each year due to alcohol-impaired driving. Roadside Safety Checks are designed to keep our roads safe by taking dangerous DUI offenders off the road.
This project was funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
