ISP District 19 in Carmi Releases Nighttime Enforcement Patrol Results from Hamilton and White Counties

CARMI – Illinois State Police District 19 in Carmi has released results from a Nighttime Enforcement Patrol conducted in Hamilton and White counties during April.

This NITE patrol allowed the ISP to focus on preventing, detecting, and taking enforcement action in response to impaired driving and occupant restraint violations, especially between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Troopers cited no one for DUI and occupant restraint offenses. There was one other alcohol/drug citation, five insurance violations, seven driver’s license offenses, 10 total citations/arrests, 11 registration offenses and 41 total written warnings.

Alcohol and drug impairment is a factor in more than 30 percent of all fatal motor vehicle crashes in Illinois. Over half of all fatal crashes in Illinois occur at night. The NITE program allows officers to work even harder at removing dangerous impaired drivers from the road and making sure everyone is buckled up.

This project is funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
