Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 1,356,391 cases, including 22,235 deaths, in Illinois.
The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from May 3-9, 2021 is 3.4%.
The Southern Seven Health Department reported 22 new COVID-19 cases Monday. Officials say more than half of those cases are amongst our tweens, teens, and 20-year old residents in the region. It seems a combination of new, more transmissible COVID-19 variants and increased exposure opportunities with reduced mitigation procedures may be leading to this recent rise in cases. They’re asking you to continue wearing a mask, wash your hands often and keep your distance.
Besides these cases from Southern Seven, seven more new COVID-19 cases were reported across the area Monday according to information we received and compiled from area health departments.
Almost 10 million vaccines have been administered so far in Illinois. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is 81,265 doses. On Monday, 70,426 doses were reported administered in Illinois.
