Hamilton Memorial Foundation Begins Campaign for Respiratory Equipment to Aid Post-COVID Patients

MCLEANSBORO – Hamilton Memorial Foundation began its “We’re All In This Together” campaign on November 15, 2021 to help raise funds to update respiratory equipment at Hamilton Memorial Hospital.

“As our area continues to battle the coronavirus, the long-term effects of this disease on our community are only now being fully understood – having local access to healthcare providers and equipment is vital for post-COVID care,” said Victoria Woodrow, CEO Hamilton Memorial Hospital. “This campaign is instrumental in helping update our pulmonary function testing equipment to serve the ongoing needs of our friends and neighbors,” continued Woodrow.

Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs) are noninvasive tests that show how well the lungs are functioning. The test measures lung volume, capacity, rates of flow and gas exchanges. This can overall help healthcare providers diagnose and decide a treatment plan. As we care for those with ongoing breathing issues from COVID-19, this equipment will give insight to help treat the long-term effects of this disease.

“Again this year, we felt it was best to cancel our Annual Dinner and move forward with an online fundraiser for the safety of our community,” said HMHD Foundation Manager, Elaine Miller. “This community was so giving last year during our ‘Clear the Air Campaign’ we hope to see the same level of support as we raise funds for new respiratory equipment. These advanced tools will further help us monitor the lung issues that are most common in post- COVID patients.”

The campaign will also feature online auctions with items donated by local businesses and community members.
