MCLEANSBORO – Monday is the 200th anniversary of the founding of Hamilton County. It was created on February 8, 1821 out of White County and is named for Alexander Hamilton, Revolutionary War hero and the first U.S. Secretary of the Treasury.
To mark the occasion, Andy Rubenacker, with Hamilton County Bicentennial 2021, says a ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at the courthouse in McLeansboro.
Rubenacker says the event will be shown live on the Hamilton County Bicentennial 2021 Facebook page, but you are welcome to come to the event in person.
Hamilton County Bicentennial 2021 is working on events to be held throughout this year to commemorate the county’s founding.
Rubenacker says information about these events will be posted on the Hamilton County Bicentennial 2021 Facebook page and on the county’s website at hamiltoncountyillinois.com.
