SPRINGFIELD – State Senator Dale Fowler (R-Harrisburg) issued the following statement after the passage of a partisan budget Monday night.
“I’m disappointed that the majority party has clearly overlooked the challenges our business community has faced throughout the past year. The statewide shutdown devastated our job creators, and taking away critical incentives needed to help keep businesses stay afloat isn’t the answer. With $16 billion in unexpected financial resources, we have the funding needed to balance a budget without adding to the burdens of our job creators. In total, the Democrats’ spending proposal removes over $660 million in job-creation incentives. We should be supporting our job creators, now more than ever. Here in Southern Illinois we are on the brink of great economic development opportunities. I want to keep the momentum moving forward. We do this by supporting our job creators, not eliminating programs geared toward growth and development.”
