HARRISBURG — Seeking to raise funding to support their ongoing Heaven’s Kitchen initiative, the Fowler Bonan Foundation is announcing plans for their upcoming Holiday Barbecue Heaven’s Kitchen Fundraiser.
“With the holidays just around the corner, we’re doubling down on our efforts to raise money for our Heaven’s Kitchen programs to provide meals to those in need throughout the region,” said Dale Fowler, Chairman of the Fowler Bonan Foundation. “No one should have to wonder where or when they will get their next meal, especially during Thanksgiving or Christmas. This fundraiser will help us ensure we can provide a hearty and free holiday supper for anyone who may need one.”
The Holiday Barbecue Fundraiser will take place on Oct. 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Harrisburg Heaven’s Kitchen facility, located at the First Presbyterian Church of Harrisburg, IL (“Annex” at 21 West Locust). The fundraiser will be curbside pick-up only, with all donations going toward Heaven’s Kitchen and their 2021 holiday meals.
Each meal will include a jumbo BBQ sandwich, brisket and beans, potato salad and desserts. Meals are by donation. Donors are just asked to give whatever they can to support the ongoing meal-providing initiative.
Last year, Heaven’s Kitchen served over 2,500 Thanksgiving Day meals and over 3,000 Christmas meals.
The Foundation is currently seeking sponsors for this event. Interested donors should e-mail email@example.com. Donations are also being accepted now and can be mailed to P.O. Box 848 in Harrisburg.
“We wouldn’t be able to carry out our Heaven’s Kitchen mission without the generosity of our donors and sponsors,” said Fowler. “Any donation amount, big or small, will make a difference and can help ensure someone doesn’t go without food.”
The proceeds from our Holiday Fundraiser will go toward purchasing the supplies needed to put on annual holiday events at the Heaven’s Kitchen facilities. Currently, Heaven’s Kitchen operates at two locations in Marion and Harrisburg, providing warm meals once a week at either facility.
Millstone Market out of Carrier Mills has generously donated the pork butts for the event. The barbecue for the sandwiches will be prepared by Jimmy D. Ellis.
Heaven’s Kitchen has been operating since 2018. The Fowler Bonan Foundation is a non-profit organization whose primary mission is to provide clothing and shoes to low income children through the Clothes for SI Kids initiative and to provide hot meals to those in need through the Heaven’s Kitchen program.
