Deer Hunting Seasons Conclude with Hunters in Illinois Taking Preliminary Total of 162,575 Deer

SPRINGFIELD – Hunters harvested more than 162,000 deer during the 2020-2021 season.

Numbers are up by over 6% compared to last year, and archery deer hunting set another record. Illinois Department of Natural Resources Spokesperson Rachel Torbert says staff will be reviewing the trends.

More than 76,000 deer were taken during firearm season, with archery close behind at over 75,000.

Illinois counties with the largest harvests include Pike, Fulton, Jefferson, Adams, Jackson and Williamson.
