MCLEANSBORO – The Hamilton County Health Department and the McLeansboro Kiwanis Club have announced mitigations to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during the upcoming McLeansboro Fall Festival on Sept. 9–11.
All festival attendees, regardless of vaccination status, are encouraged to wear masks. Anyone who is sick or exhibiting any of the following symptoms including cough, shortness of breath, fever, chills, muscle pain or sore throat, should not attend the McLeansboro Fall Festival.
Mitigation procedures will include:
• Brady Amusements will shut down all carnival rides every two hours to sanitize the rides and will also provide hand sanitizer stations at each ride.
• Maier’s Tidy Bowl, who will provide the portable toilets and handwashing stations, will clean and sanitize the toilets and handwashing stations Friday and Saturday mornings.
• The Kiwanis Club will provide masks to persons in the sponsor seating area at each evening’s concert performances.
• The sponsor seating area will be disinfected by the Kiwanis Club Friday and Saturday mornings.
• Vendors who bring seating will be asked to disinfect the seating 3x a day (before & after lunch and after dinner).
• Multiple hand sanitizer stations will be provided by the Kiwanis Club and located throughout the downtown festival.
“We want to remind folks what they can do to stay safe as the Delta variant circulates in Illinois,” said Hamilton County Health Department Administrator Nicole Schoenborn. “Getting vaccinated is the best way to protect yourself against COVID-19 and its variants. Wearing a mask, socially distancing, getting tested and washing your hands also play an important role in helping slow the spread of these viruses.”
