MT. VERNON – A court hearing scheduled for Thursday in Jefferson County Court has been vacated after the 37-year-old defendant pleaded guilty last week to unlawful disposal of methamphetamine waste and was sentenced to eight years in prison.
Paul McCormick was arrested in August 2020 when the Mt. Vernon Police Department/Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department High-Risk Team executed a Jefferson County Search warrant at a residence located at 20300 North Miller Lake Lane.
McCormick was originally charged with Class X felony manufacture of between 100 and 400 grams of methamphetamine, and Class 2 felonies for possession of meth manufacturing material and disposal of meth manufacturing waste.
He pleaded guilty last week to the Class 2 disposal charge in exchange for the other charges being dismissed.
He was given credit for 250 days served in the Jefferson County Jail.
