MARION, IL— The City of Marion has partnered with Marion Cultural and Civic Center Foundation, Inc. 501(c)(3), to identify additional funding opportunities that complement the missions of both parties to foster a community of arts and culture.

The Marion Cultural and Civic Center Foundation serves as a main component of fundraising for the Marion Cultural and Civic Center. Founded in 1981, it is dedicated to providing financial support by raising funds for the growth and maintenance of the Marion Cultural and Civic Center. The Foundation’s support is unique in that it works to continually address the wants and needs that the Marion Cultural and Civic Center deems appropriate.

Traditionally, the Foundation has made infrastructure improvements to the Civic Center such as lighting, sound, fixtures, and concession equipment upgrades; in addition to sponsoring the Yolonde B. Peterson annual scholarship for a deserving graduating senior from Marion High School to further their college education in Music, Arts and Culture.

Allison Hasler, Community Programs Director and Grant Administrator with the City of Marion, looks regularly for funding opportunities that could benefit the community.  However, many opportunities are reserved specifically for nonprofit organizations. To that end, Hasler sought out the Foundation as a potential partner for future funding opportunities as it relates to community arts and cultural engagement.

“Our Board of Directors has decided this will be a good fit for the Foundation’s work and support with this collaboration with the City of Marion,” said John Wohlwend, Marion Cultural and Civic Center Foundation’s Board President. “This is an excellent opportunity to let our constituents realize the Foundation is active, and ready to help both our Civic Center and the City of Marion.”
