Carbondale to Celebrate Arbor Day with Tree Planting Ceremony

CARBONDALE – The City of Carbondale is celebrating its 40th year as a designated Tree City USA.

To celebrate Arbor Day and renew the City’s long-standing commitment to urban forest management, there will be a tree-planting ceremony at Turley Park on Friday at 11 a.m. Masks and social distancing will be required.

Mayor Mike Henry and representatives from the Carbondale Garden Study Club will plant two trees in the park during the ceremony. Over the past year, the City has worked to remove several dead trees from the park. The City’s Arborist, Mark McDaniel, is committed to replacing the removed trees with beautiful, young trees that our community can enjoy for many years to come.
