Carbondale Police Department & Carbondale NAACP to Formally Adopt 10 Shared Principles

CARBONDALE – The Carbondale Police Department and the Carbondale Branch NAACP Thursday will affirm and adopt the 10 Shared Principles originally drafted by the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police and the Illinois NAACP State Conference.

This will be held at 9 a.m. at the police department in Carbondale.

Dr. Linda Flowers, Carbondale NAACP Branch President, will join Interim Chief Stan Reno to formally adopt the shared principles. The adoption will set the standard for the police department moving forward to build trust between law enforcement and the community.

The adoption of the shared principles follows many meetings across Illinois between leaders in law enforcement and diverse communities. The efforts began in 2018 as World Café-style conversations, including one hosted in Carbondale.
