Bridge Repairs and Hot Mix Asphalt Resurfacing Begins Monday on I-24 in Massac County

METROPOLIS – Pavement patching and hot mix asphalt resurfacing will begin Monday, weather permitting on I-24 in Massac County.

According to IDOT, the pavement patching and hot mix asphalt resurfacing will be done from the structures over Country Club Road at milepost 35 to the Ohio River Bridge at milepost 39), including the I-24/US 45 Metropolis interchange. This will be done from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday night through Friday morning. All lanes in this area shall be open to traffic from 7 a.m. Friday to midnight Sunday. The lane closures will remain during the daytime, Monday through Thursday, and no work is allowed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Bridge work will continue on the various structures from the Johnson County line at milepost 24 to the structures over Country Club Road at milepost 35. Daytime pavement patching and hot mix asphalt resurfacing will begin once all bridge work is completed in this area.

The entire project is to be completed by Nov. 15, 2022.

Motorists should be aware of the 14’-3” width restriction, reduce speed, be alert for equipment and workers and use extreme caution while traveling through all work zones.

To avoid any delays, motorists should seek an alternate route. Emergency vehicles will be allowed through the work zone as quickly as possible.
