Body of Marion City Employee Pulled from Wastewater Facility Pond Sunday

MARION – The City of Marion is currently investigating a Sunday morning incident at the Wastewater Treatment Plant on South Van Buren Street.

According to City Spokesperson Cody Moake, at 7 a.m. Sunday, a City employee went missing at the Wastewater Treatment Facility. Emergency crews were immediately dispatched to the scene.

At 10 a.m., crews located a body in one of the treated water ponds and recovered the remains of the suspected missing employee.

Moake says more information will be released as it becomes available. The employee’s name is being withheld until family members are notified.
