BENTON – At a special Benton City Council meeting Friday morning, the Council approved the bid from Little Egypt Mosquito Company, LLC of Jonesboro for mosquito abatement in the City starting in April.
The company will treat desired zones, culverts, ditches, etc. for $13,800 for the six-month season. That breaks down to $2,300 a month.
The abatement will include liquid larvicide, granular, bricks, whichever is indicated. Mosquito surveillance is included. The company will place mosquito traps out and determine “hot spots” for specific problematic areas. The company can also work with IDPH by keeping dead mosquitoes and releasing them to IDPH for Zika/West Nile testing.
This was the only bid the city received according to City Clerk Brook Craig.
