Benton Police Report

BENTON – The Benton Police Department released the following information on Friday, May 6, 2022.

On April 29th, 2022, Benton Police were dispatched to the 400 block of North Commercial Street in reference to an aggravated assault complaint. Through investigation, police arrested Chasity Short, age 48, of West Frankfort for aggravated assault. Short was charged and provided with a notice to appear at court at a later date.

On April 29th, 2022, Benton Police were dispatched to the 600 block of East Church Street in reference to an active domestic disturbance. Through investigation, police arrested Kort M. Vinyard, age 35, of Benton for aggravated assault. Vinyard was charged and transported to the Franklin County Jail for further processing.

On April 30th, 2022, Benton Police arrested with Harold K. Pope, age 40, of Benton on an active Franklin County warrant for failure to appear. Pope was transported to the Franklin County Jail for further processing.

On May 1st, 2022, Benton Police responded to the 500 block of West Main in reference to an intoxicated suspect. Through investigation, police arrested John D. Gass, age 24, of Benton for resisting a peace officer. Gass was charged and transported to the Franklin County Jail for further processing.

On May 5th, 2022 Benton Police were dispatched to the 700 block of Susan Esther Street in reference to a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, police arrested Dustin L. Motsinger, age 36, of Mulkeytown for burglary. Through further investigation, Motsinger was charged with an additional count of burglary for a separate case. Motsinger also had an active Franklin County warrant for failure to appear. Motsinger was charged and transported to the Franklin County Jail for further processing.

On May 4th, 2022, Benton Police were dispatched to the 200 block of Bailey Lane in reference to a criminal damage to property complaint. Through investigation, police arrested Tommy L. Latham Jr, age 42, of Benton for criminal damage to property. Latham was charged and transported to the Franklin County Jail for further processing.
