Arrowleaf to Host Substance Use Recovery Banquet

HARDIN AND POPE COUNTY – On May 10th, 2022, Arrowleaf, a human services organization in Southern Illinois, and its Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP) consortium will host a Substance Use Recovery Banquet where they will offer a free dinner, giveaways, and presentations that build awareness and skills to identify and respond to substance use disorders. They will also be recognizing two individuals from Hardin County General Hospital that have been champions for building substance use disorder recovery supports in Hardin and Pope Counties.

RCORP is under the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS); and the RCORP Consortium is made up of the following organizations: Arrowleaf, Hardin County General Hospital, Southern 7 Health Department, Prevention First, SIU School of Medicine, Hardin County Sheriff’s Department and the Pope County Sheriff’s Department. Arrowleaf’s RCORP works to strengthen and expand substance use disorder (SUD) — including opioid use disorder (OUD) —prevention, treatment, and recovery services in Hardin and Pope Counties.

To expand the local infrastructure and capacity to address SUDs, Arrowleaf recognized the need to decrease stigma attached to SUDs, improve public education on available evidence-based practices to prevent and respond to SUDs, and increase collaboration between behavioral health and primary care services. Arrowleaf looks forward to meeting with local and regional organizations and individuals that have a stake in seeing our communities improve their resiliency when responding to the public health concern of SUDs.

The banquet will include presentations and discussions on risk factors and screenings for SUDs, RCORP progress update, Medication-Assisted Recovery and recovery support in local primary care clinics, and a local recovery story and peer support roles in the community.  Several speakers will be present to share their experience and expertise across the SUD prevention, treatment, and recovery spectrum, including Dr. Jason West from SIH Primary Care in Harrisburg who serves as the physician lead in Addiction Medicine for SIH.

The Substance Use Recovery Banquet is May 10th, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at San Damiano in Golconda, IL with doors opening at 4:30 p.m. for registration. Attendees can register at or by contacting Alisha Foster by telephone at 618-652-2101 or email at Those interested in learning more about Arrowleaf’s RCORP can visit their Facebook group page – RCORP and Be the One Communication Campaign.
