U.S. DISTRICT COURTHOUSES FOR THE SOUTHERN DISTRICT OF ILLINOIS AMENDED ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 262
REGARDING HANDLING CASES DURING THE COVID-19 OUTBREAK (4/1/2020)

Public Notice Regarding Entrance to the Federal Courthouse (3/22/2020)

Court operations in the 12 counties of the Second Judicial Circuit have been curtailed to Chief Justice Tom Tedeschi. This was done pursuant to an administrative order that can be found at www.illinoissecondcircuit.info.

Tedeschi says the modification in court operations was necessary in order to protect the public, court staff and the judiciary.

The modification includes the rescheduling of many types of cases which will reduce the requirement for litigants, witnesses, jurors and others from having to appear at the courthouse in a large gathering. Many civil court cases, minor criminal and traffic cases will be rescheduled, while more serious criminal and emergency matters will remain as scheduled.

Since all cases will not be rescheduled and will require a court appearance, it will be necessary for litigants to check for information about their case for either the Circuit Clerk of the county in which the case is pending or websites such as judici.com which displays case information.
