Man Recovering Following Early Thursday Morning Crash in Jackson County

GORHAM – A Murphysboro man is recovering after being involved in a one-vehicle crash where his vehicle was submerged in water on Neunert Road just outside of Gorham early Thursday morning.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived around 4:45 a.m. to find a Jeep Wrangler on its top submerged in water. The driver, 28-year-old Benjamin Vogel, was unresponsive and trapped within the driver’s compartment of the Jeep.

Deputies and first responders were able to retrieve Vogel from the Jeep. Vogel was taken to a St. Louis area hospital for his injuries.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Jackson County Ambulance Service and the Gorham and Ava fire departments.
