Carbondale Approves Recreational Marijuana Sales

CARBONDALE – The Carbondale City Council approved recreational marijuana sales in the city by a vote of six to one at Tuesday night’s meeting.

The ordinance begins Oct. 1, 2020, which includes rights to possess marijuana and build dispensaries within city limits.

A two-percent sales tax was also approved by the council, and businesses selling marijuana will pay a Municipal Cannabis Retailers’ Occupation Tax imposed by the city.

Medical marijuana sales are not included with the sales tax collected by the city.
