IDOT to Reduce Northbound I-57 Just South of Mt. Vernon to One Lane for Construction

MT. VERNON – IDOT has announced an upcoming lane reduction that will affect those traveling northbound on Interstate 57 just south of Mt. Vernon.

Starting Monday, weather permitting, northbound I-57 will be reduced to one lane near milepost 91 to facilitate bridge repair work. The work is expected to last six weeks.

Motorists should slow down, stay alert for equipment and workers, and use extreme caution when traveling through the area.

To avoid any delays, drivers should seek an alternate route. Emergency vehicles will be allowed through the work zone as quickly as possible.
